Are you looking for that perfect Hong Kong Vacation Rental but doubt you can afford what you would really like to have? Well, If you are are the gambling type, you could just wait until the last minute and then lock in on a great deal! Depending on when you travel, I have noticed many deals available like this. I've seen several 3 bedrooms on the MTR line, some sleeping 10 or 12 people and costing only US $99 a night! This would be unheard of just a few years ago. However, the Short Term Apartment Rental business is now very competitive in Hong Kong.
I found a nice Hong Kong apartment for rent on a short or long term basis. It is 800 sq. ft. in size and has 4 bedrooms, each with a Queen size bed! It also has 2 bathrooms in it and is directly on the MTR line. That is super convenient. It sleeps up to 10 people. All of this for around US $253 per night. Seems like a great deal!
Do you own a flat in Hong Kong that sets empty? Would you like to rent it out on a short-term basis to people that are visiting Hong Kong? Depending on the size and location of your flat, you may be able to obtain a high dollar nightly rate. However, visitors need to know about your flat and they need to be able to trust you.
Do you know which Hong Kong district you plan to stay in? Will you stay on the Island side or on the Kowloon side? Where will you be in relation to the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) stops?
You can download a high resolution verison of the MTR map (Aodobe PDF format) to help with your planning and preparation.
It has been a very long time since I have posted to my blog here so I decided to talk about a restaurant we ate at during last year's family visit to Hong Kong. It was a Japanese Buffet (my favorite type of restaurant in Hong Kong) located in Causeway Bay. The English name appears to be Manya Japanese Restaurant and the Chinese name is 滿屋日本料理. It was outstanding, the best I've had yet during my visits to Hong Kong. The price will be up there a little, at around $250 HKD per person (US $31) but this is a real deal considering what all you can eat. The great thing is that the food and drinks are unlimited and you can choose whatever you like to eat, such as lamb chops, sashimi, sushi, oysters, scallops, you name it. The waiters just keep bringing it out. All the food we had was fresh and very good. The atmosphere was nice as well. We had a great time there.
The address is:
8/F, Causeway Bay Plaza 2, 463-483 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay
Phone: 3622 3366 (Reservations will be required!)
Here is the OpenRice link, with a lot more pictures and reviews (all in Chinese). I also notice that they sometimes have a special going on, costing only $198 HKD per person. If you can time that, super!
Adam from Malaysia wrote a very nice review of the Causeway Bay Wan Chai Road flat that I sometimes have listed on my Hong Kong Short Term Apartment Rental page (Click the 2nd tab at the top of this page).
He also has a great blog regarding the Malaysian lifestyle. So be sure to check out his blog and his review of the Wan Chai Rd flat. He includes some good pictures for you to view and gives an honest review.
Thanks Joseph for sending me this review of the Harbour View 2BR. I really appreciate it and more so, others looking for a place to stay in Hong Kong will appreciate it. - Bill

Comments: We recently stayed at the Causeway Harbour View 2BR condo (3) which we discovered from your website. The apartment can accommodate 3 adults comfortably; anymore would be pushing it. The balcony is a bonus, especially one with such a nice (albeit partial) view of the harbour. And it was great having a washer/dryer right in the apartment. Above all, the location was terrific, being so close to the subway and tramway. The neighbourhood doesn't feel as crowded or closed in as Sheung Wan. The kitchen however was too small for any semi-serious cooking, but then we ate out all the time, except for breakfasts. Speaking of restaurants, Electric Road is packed with good and reasonably priced eateries. You can practically eat at a different restaurant every night for a whole month! (If you like curry, you have to try Ah Long Pakistan Halal Restaurant on Mercury St.) Anyway, we really enjoyed our stay there and have your website to thank for it. Cheers and keep up the good work!
You talk about a deal, this is it! My wife's family discovered this one. It is a buffet serving Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai food. You get 2 hours to eat and drink (including beer, juice, etc) all that you want. You just keep ordering until your 2 hours are up. Keep in mind that at the 30 minute left mark, they won't take any more orders but you can still finish eating. So order big early.
The $138 HK dinner price roughly equates to $18 US and that price is good only if you start eating before 6pm. It keeps going up if you want to eat later. The highest price is still only $168 HK or roughly $22 US, which runs between 7 - 9:30pm.
They also have a special dinner price for senior citizens and children and it is $98 HK or a little less than $13 US. As well, they have a lunch buffet (Central location only!) and the prices for that are $110 HK or $14 US for an Adult and $78 HK or $10 US for children and senior citizens. The good thing here is that the menu is the exact same as the dinner menu.
The restaurant is called YumAsian and it has two locations.
Note: Reservations must be made
1) Shop 1, G/F, Car Po Commercial Bldg., 18-20 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central
2) 10/F, CTMA Centre, 1 Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mong Kok
I saw this 2 bedroom advertised. It is priced at $199 per night, over my $150 per night requirement so I have not added it to my list. Nonetheless, it looks very clean and well decorated and some folks may want to check it out. Location is Sheung Wan, very close to the MTR stop. It sleeps 6.
I removed this link since the apartment is no longer available for rent. However, you can view similar apartments in Hong Kong via my link below.
1) This $180 per night 3 bedroom is somewhere in the US, not Hong Kong! Beware of these scams on Craig's List!
(Link has expired)
A reader of my web site here contacted me about this earlier. She was getting ready to post via western union over $1,000 US to a Paul Weis at 107 S Main St Columbus Grove, Ohio 45830. Paul Weis is where the money was going to but she had been dealing with a Mark Pittaway (email@example.com). He claims that Paul Weis is his manager.
Everything about the pictures seems so wrong to me. I could name off lots of things that are wrong, such as carpet, no air conditioning in the windows or on the walls, American style everything, American appliances, etc.
I can't prove it 100% but I'm sure like 99% that this has to be a criminal at work. Be very careful and follow Craig's Lists own rules here:
2) Also this one (now expired) at Craigs List is a 2 bedroom but this one (now expired) is a 1 bedroom. If you look closely, you will see that the bedroom picture is the same on both postings and the bathroom as well! Also this place rents on Homeaway for a lot more money. Scam I tell you.
