In the past, I've had people ask me if I knew of any apartments in Hong Kong that would sleep 10 or 11, or some huge number like that.  They also wanted something cheap.  Regretfully, I would always have to explain to these folks, "No way, forget it."  But recently I've stumbled on to a few that offer just this thing, accomodation for many. 

Here is a 600 sq. ft. flat that the owner claims can hold 16 people or perhaps even more.  Now trust me, this is going to be crowded and not the safest or most comfortable setup going.  However, if this is what you need, have at it.  His price starts at $88 for 3 people and you keep adding $10 for each additional person.  What a deal for a large group traveling together.  Spend your money on food and shopping instead of hotel rooms!

And if you need a place for only 12 people, check this 1500 sq. ft. Causeway Bay location out.  This one looks very nice and would not be as jammed pack as the other one, yet the price is $290 per night but that is for 12 people.  There is no extra charge after 3 or anything like that.  Now I can tell from the location that this will be a very old and likely run-down building but then again who cares what the outside looks like as long as the apartment is fixed up nice and it appears to be.

Comments: We recently stayed at the Causeway Harbour View 2BR condo (3) which we discovered from your website. The apartment can accommodate 3 adults comfortably; anymore would be pushing it. The balcony is a bonus, especially one with such a nice (albeit partial) view of the harbour. And it was great having a washer/dryer right in the apartment. Above all, the location was terrific, being so close to the subway and tramway. The neighbourhood doesn't feel as crowded or closed in as Sheung Wan. The kitchen however was too small for any semi-serious cooking, but then we ate out all the time, except for breakfasts. Speaking of restaurants, Electric Road is packed with good and reasonably priced eateries. You can practically eat at a different restaurant every night for a whole month! (If you like curry, you have to try Ah Long Pakistan Halal Restaurant on Mercury St.) Anyway, we really enjoyed our stay there and have your website to thank for it. Cheers and keep up the good work!

You talk about a deal, this is it! My wife's family discovered this one.  It is a buffet serving Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai food.  You get 2 hours to eat and drink (including beer, juice, etc) all that you want.  You just keep ordering until your 2 hours are up.  Keep in mind that at the 30 minute left mark, they won't take any more orders but you can still finish eating.  So order big early.

The $138 HK dinner price roughly equates to $18 US and that price is good only if you start eating before 6pm.  It keeps going up if you want to eat later.  The highest price is still only $168 HK or roughly $22 US, which runs between 7 - 9:30pm. 

They also have a special dinner price for senior citizens and children and it is $98 HK or a little less than $13 US.  As well, they have a lunch buffet (Central location only!) and the prices for that are $110 HK or $14 US for an Adult and $78 HK or $10 US  for children and senior citizens.  The good thing here is that the menu is the exact same as the dinner menu.

The restaurant is called YumAsian and it has two locations.

I saw this 2 bedroom advertised.  It is priced at $199 per night, over my $150 per night requirement so I have not added it to my list.  Nonetheless, it looks very clean and well decorated and some folks may want to check it out.  Location is Sheung Wan, very close to the MTR stop.  It sleeps 6.

1)  This $180 per night 3 bedroom is somewhere in the US, not Hong Kong!  Beware of these scams on Craig's List!

A reader of my web site here contacted me about this earlier.  She was getting ready to post via western union over $1,000 US to a Paul Weis at 107 S Main St Columbus Grove, Ohio 45830.  Paul Weis is where the money was going to but she had been dealing with a Mark Pittaway (markpittaway88@hotmail.com).  He claims that Paul Weis is his manager.

Everything about the pictures seems so wrong to me.  I could name off lots of things that are wrong, such as carpet, no air conditioning in the windows or on the walls, American style everything, American appliances, etc.

I can't prove it 100% but I'm sure like 99% that this has to be a criminal at work.  Be very careful and follow Craig's Lists own rules here:

2)  Also this one (now expired) at Craigs List is a 2 bedroom but this one (now expired) is a 1 bedroom.   If you look closely, you will see that the bedroom picture is the same on both postings and the bathroom as well!  Also this place rents on Homeaway for a lot more money.  Scam I tell you. 

It was brought to my attention that the owner of the Yau Ma Tei 2 bedroom apartment is not responding to email, yet the calendar for their apartment shows total availability.  I'm sorry about this.  That is not the way I would do business.  I'll keep them listed on my page, just in case they do decide to respond at some point. 

Check this place out on Lantau Island.  The owners (well they might not be the owners) rent it out when they are away, around US $177 a night now (was at $139).  I looked it up online and houses in this area sell for around US 1.6 million.  It always amazes me how much property is in Hong Kong.  A house this size where I live would be around US $120,000 in this current down market. 

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!  But the house is directly across from a small beach and only a 30 minute ferry ride to Central.  It is definitly worth a look for anyone spending a vacation in Hong Kong, truely unique and a rare find.

Again, a reminder to be careful when dealing with Craig's List.  Use your common sense.  I just noticed someone advertising a $200 4BR apartment in Causeway Bay, promising everything.  Then just a couple of posts laster, I see a 2BR advertised for $100, luxury living they say, 1264 sq. ft.  But one problem - the pictures they show for the 2BR are the same pictures they show for the 4BR post!  BEWARE!

Also there have been a string of posts in the past few months, where someone lists a flat for say $65 per night.  That sounds like a deal, but when you follow the link to their site (roomlender.com as an example), there is a 1-year minimum lease.  Can someone explain to me how that qualifies as a Vacation Rental?  If you are going to list a nightly rental price, you better rent it on a nightly basis.  I mark all such posts as MISCATEGORIZED on Craig's List.
